Pronounced “buy-uh-nee-hun", Bayanihan is a Filipino word derived from the word “bayan”, meaning "town", and “bayani”, which roughly translates to "hero".

Bayanihan refers to a spirit of communal unity and collaboration and it is the theme for POP2021. We need to be our own heroes to be able to support each other in the face of current issues both here in Canada and our homeland, the Philippines.
