With roots from the words “balik” meaning “to return”, and “bayan” meaning “country”, “Balikbayan” is the Tagalog word for Filipinos who are returning home. Over the past two years, Pinoys on Parliament (POP) has been held virtually, in an effort to safeguard our communities. This year we were thrilled to welcome everyone back to Ottawa where POP started in 2019.

Over the past four years, POP has been attended by hundreds of Filipina/o/x from across the country every year. Delegates from all provinces and the territories, from the west coast to the prairies,all the way to the Atlantic and up north to the territories, have gathered in Ottawa to commemorate our heritage and our community.
